Where Time Stood Still

Over the years, the water had slowly crept inland, swallowing the ground around the old, dilapidated buildings. What had once been dry pathways and well-trodden tracks were now lost beneath the gentle ripples, leaving behind crumbling walls, boarded-up windows and the remnants of a place that had once been full of life. Wooden walkways had been built to connect one area to another, their uneven, weathered planks stretching across the shallow water, allowing passage between buildings that had long since seen better days. Each creaking board seemed to tell a story of countless footsteps, of people who had once called this place home, and of a time when these forgotten buildings still had a purpose.

There was something hauntingly beautiful about this little corner of the world. Nature had quietly begun to reclaim what man had left behind, with wildflowers pushing through the rocky ground, trees hanging low over the water and moss slowly covering the ageing stonework. Yet, despite the passing years, the buildings remained, stubbornly holding on to their history, as though unwilling to surrender completely to the elements. The old garage stood silent, its faded sign a reminder of busier days, while the water gently lapped against the wooden supports of the walkways. Here, amongst the rust, the overgrown foliage and the rising water, the outside world seemed a million miles away. It was a place where time had simply stood still, where yesterday lingered in every corner, and tomorrow never seemed to arrive.
